Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide with the sequence Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu and a molecular weight of approximately 849 Da. It was first isolated in 1977 by Schoenenberger and Monnier from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits, and it has since been identified in a range of mammalian tissues. Its name reflects the electroencephalographic observations reported in the original work.
DSIP has been the subject of research for close to five decades, covering neuropeptide signalling, its interaction with the hypothalamic–pituitary axis and its behaviour in various cell and animal models. Despite this long history, the peptide’s mechanism of action and its endogenous receptor remain incompletely characterised, which continues to make it a subject of investigation. Megalab supplies DSIP as a laboratory reagent only.
Each vial contains 10mg of DSIP as a lyophilised powder. Purity is verified by HPLC at ≥99% on every batch. The batch record on this page shows the current lot where published, and a Certificate of Analysis can be supplied on request.
Store unopened vials at −20°C and protect from light. Allow to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water introduced slowly down the vial wall, then swirl gently until dissolved. Keep the reconstituted solution at 2–8°C and use within 30 days. DSIP is a short peptide and dissolves readily.
Supplied for laboratory research use only.
Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu, a linear nine-residue peptide with a molecular weight of roughly 849 Da.
It was first isolated from rabbit cerebral venous blood and has since been detected in a range of mammalian tissues, including the brain, gut and adrenal glands.
Lyophilised vials at −20°C away from light. Reconstituted solution at 2–8°C, used within 30 days. Do not freeze reconstituted peptide.
