AOD-9604 is a synthetic 16-residue peptide derived from the C-terminal region of human growth hormone (residues 176–191). It was developed in Australia in the late 1990s as a stabilised analogue of the native fragment, with a tyrosine substitution at the N-terminus and an intramolecular disulfide bridge between the two cysteine residues. The result is a compound that retains the fragment’s structural features while offering improved handling characteristics for laboratory work. Its molecular weight is approximately 1,815 Da.
Published work on AOD-9604 has concentrated on lipid metabolism in cell culture and rodent models, examining the peptide in isolation from the growth-promoting activity of full-length growth hormone. It has also been characterised in early-stage human safety studies, and in 2014 it received GRAS (Generally Recognised as Safe) notification in the United States as a food ingredient. These references are provided for context only; Megalab supplies AOD-9604 solely as a reagent for in-vitro investigation.
Each vial contains 5mg of AOD-9604 as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder, sealed under an inert atmosphere. Purity is verified at ≥99% by HPLC, and a Certificate of Analysis for the supplied batch is available on request or via the batch record shown on this page where published.
Store unopened vials at −20°C, protected from light. Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water, directing the diluent down the inside wall of the vial and swirling gently to dissolve. Reconstituted solution should be kept at 2–8°C and used within 30 days. The peptide calculator on this site provides concentration values for any vial and diluent volume.
Supplied for laboratory research use only.
Both are derived from the same 16-residue C-terminal region of human growth hormone. AOD-9604 carries a tyrosine substitution at the N-terminus and a stabilising disulfide bridge, which was introduced to improve the compound’s handling characteristics. Megalab stocks both so researchers can select the form appropriate to their protocol.
Every batch is tested by HPLC and released at ≥99% purity. The batch record on this page shows the current lot where published, and a full Certificate of Analysis is available on request.
Once reconstituted with bacteriostatic water and stored at 2–8°C, the solution should be used within 30 days. Unopened lyophilised vials stored at −20°C remain stable for considerably longer.
