GHK-Cu (glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine–copper II) is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide first identified in human plasma. The histidine imidazole ring and terminal amine groups coordinate Cu²+ ions, maintaining copper in a bioavailable yet regulated redox form. Plasma concentrations of GHK-Cu are known to decline with age.
In research contexts, GHK-Cu is employed to probe matrix-associated readouts, peptide–metal coordination effects, and receptor-adjacent signalling in model systems. Studies commonly examine fibroblast proliferation and collagen-synthesis markers, angiogenesis-associated endpoints, and redox stress biomarkers in controlled in-vitro environments. Comparative experiments typically include peptide-only, copper-only, and untreated controls to isolate metal-dependent effects.
GHK-Cu has also been studied in models of oxidative stress and inflammatory signalling, where assays track free-radical and redox-balance markers. Supplied as a lyophilised solid for maximum stability. CAS commonly reported as 49557-75-7 (complex) or 89030-95-5 (TFA salt); exact molecular weight varies by counter-ion and hydration state.

Remove the vial from cold storage and allow it to reach room temperature before opening. This prevents condensation forming inside the vial and disturbing the lyophilised powder.
Always reconstitute with bacteriostatic water (BW). Avoid distilled or sterile water for long-term storage — BW contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol which preserves peptide stability and prevents microbial growth.
Insert the needle into the vial and allow BW to run slowly down the inside wall. Do not inject directly onto the lyophilised powder — the pressure can degrade the peptide structure.
Gently swirl the vial — never shake. Continue until the powder is fully dissolved and the solution is clear. Shaking introduces air bubbles and can cause aggregation.
Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C and use within 30 days. Never freeze a reconstituted vial. Lyophilised (un-reconstituted) vials should be stored at –20°C, away from direct light.
